Review: YumYums Delights

I finally got to try cupcakes from YumYums Delights in the Denver Pavilliions on the 16th Street Mall. I have had them before but only after they were a few days old so it would not have been a fair review.

YumYums Delights specialty is their Red Velvet cupcake which has a vanilla frosting and a red colored cake that has some cocoa flavor. There are many varieties that you can try. I got a red velvet, a vanilla bliss, and a chocolate dutchess. Overall, each was a good cupcake. The cake itself is moist and tasty. What really makes a cupcake, of course, is its frosting. The frosting on YumYums Delights cupcakes is really light and creamy as if it has been heavily whipped. For my tastes, the frosting is too light as I prefer something that has a little more substance to it. Still, overall the cupcakes are simple and good.

One problem with YumYums Delights is their packaging. As mentioned earlier, I had previously had their cupcakes but only after a few days and they had dried out. Other cupcakes I've had from cupcake stores in Chicago which had traveled all the way to Denver remained moist after many days. I would suggest they revisit their packaging. But, if you plan to eat the cupcakes that day, then don't worry.

YumYums Cupcakes makes a reliable, simple, and good cupcake but I suspect I will find something more special as I review other cupcake stores in Denver.

Score: 6/10
