A Scripps exec has commented that there will be a final announcement on the fate of the Rocky by March 31 (end of Q1), or sooner. We could be in the final days of Denver being a two newspaper town. This speaks to my previous post about the changing face of radio because this is another venue where local voices could be lost - it seems doubtful that the Denver Post will be able to hire all these columnists.

Will the Rocky continue on in Internet only format? Will it shut down entirely? Only time will tell, but it certainly will be interesting. We are witnessing a titanic shift in the business landscape in this country as many of the major corporations and brand names will be completely gone two years from now. Stay tuned.
